Pulling the new Pearl Izumi Elite Jersey out of the box is like unwrapping a present on Christmas. I mean, what cyclist doesn’t love a shiny new jersey to add to their gear? The feel and look of the fabric along with the stitching appear to have been thought out in detail by the designers, and you feel like you really are getting a great product. I selected the bright green and yellow jersey as I have a hidden fear of being run over and trust me, no vehicle will miss me on the road sporting this bad boy.

My 1st impression of my Pearl Izumi Elite Jerseys fit was that it almost felt like a custom tailored top. It slipped on snugly, however it was not constrictive. The full zipper made it easy to get on and off even after a long ride. Some jerseys that are my size have a bit of extra fabric in areas that bunch up where I did not experience this with the Elite. Elastic was added in the sleeves, round the torso, and waist to make the jersey feel comfortable and fitted. Another great feature is the back of the jersey. It is long enough so while I was riding, it covered my lower back perfectly and did not ride up. The pockets are placed low enough that they were actually usable for me during the ride as well. Sometimes I feel like you have to be a contortionist just to reach in to grab a bar. The sizing was true for me based on Pearl Izumi’s sizing Chart on their website.

The Pearl Izumi Elite Jersey was designed with the avid cyclist in mind and it shows. One of the best things about this jersey is the suburb cut and fit which make it a sleek and stylish jersey while minimizing any areas that might catch the wind. I love the fact that it covers my skin utilizing SPF protectant fabrics. Even after my long rides I was protected from the sun. It’s sweat wicking properties were top notch which helped me stay cool and dry even on the hottest days of testing. And trust me, I sweat! After several washes I’ve seen no wear or tear and it appears to be holding up like a tank. Extended use has yet to be determined.
