Mountain Warehouse has been developing outdoor clothing and equipment for all the family since 1997. The Mountain Warehouse Exodus Softshell Jacket is the perfect example of the companies quality products at a very reasonable price.
The Exodus Softshell Jacket is a jacket designed for everyday wear. It is a comfortable, easy to wear jacket that is water resistant and lightly insulated. It is the perfect jacket for those in-between-seasons days where its chilly, maybe a little rain, but too warm for your winter coat.
So Many Options!
The first thing that I really loved about the Exodus Jacket is that is comes in 12 sizes for women. The jacket is sized at even sizes from 0 to 24. There is certainly a perfect fit for everyone. Options in the sizing are an absolutely winner. I did find the the sizing was a little small in the chest area. If you are particularly large up top, I would suggest going one size up. For men, the Exodus comes in 7 sizes ranging from XXS-4XL.
Being a particularly tall woman at 6″, I was pleased to find that the size 10 jacket had plenty of sleeve length. This is where I usually struggle with coats, but I was pleased to have ample material to cover my long arms.
In addition to the many size options, Mountain Warehouse offers the Exodus Softshell Jacket for women in 9 solid colors and 7 patterned options. For men, the jacket is offered in 5 solid and 2 patterned colors. The colors vary from earthy to bright and bold. There is sure to be something to fit everyone’s taste.
Well Constructed and Fitted
The Mountain Warehouse Exodus Softshell Jacket is neatly fitted and has many adjustment points. Depending on the conditions, you will be protected. The soft shell outer layer is tough and durable but is lined with a buttery-soft fleece. This light layer of insulation is just right.

Starting at the hood, Mountain Warehouse added many adjustment points. There is an adjustable bungee on the back of the hood and around the face to perfect the fit. The top of the zipper has a fleece zipper garage to prevent any chafing to your chin and lips. The wrists have hook and loop to accommodate gloves or keep out the wind. Lastly, the waist has an adjustable bungee to keep the wind out of your back.
The Exodus Jacket has two zippered pockets that are fleeced lined. This keeps you your hands warm and your valuables contained. The pockets had plenty of room for my hands to nestle deep inside. The seams are all double sewn and contribute to the overall quality feel of the construction. There are no rough edges or seems on this entire jacket.

Don’t Expect it to Stretch
In a world where most clothing has some quality of stretch to it, the Exodus Jacket does not. This is a great, protective everyday wearer but not the best piece of active wear. Now I want to point out that Mountain Warehouse doesn’t market this as an activewear jacket so it performs as it is designed. If you are looking for something for your more active lifestyle that will stretch and bend with you, I would suggest looking at Mountain Warehouse’s other options.

Battle the Water and Wind
Mountain Warehouse describes this jacket as “water resistant”. In my testing of this jacket, I can definitely confirm that the material is “waterproof.” The jacket lacks waterproof zippers so it is classified as water resistant. I also wanted to compliment the wind proof material. I am currently living in the Colorado Rockies at 8,000 ft. The down slope winds grace us daily and this jacket has really been an amazing barrier to the wind. Mountain Warehouse should give themselves a pat on the back for such a great jacket.
Final Thoughts on the Mountain Warehouse Exodus Softshell Jacket
Since I received my new jacket about a month ago, I have used it as an everyday wear, I’ve hiked and backpacked in it and I have used it around camp to keep me warm around the campfire. The fabric is very durable and easy to clean with a cloth. I have washed the jacket twice in the washer and put it in the dryer. The color held fast and it cleaned up beautifully. It is definitely a fantastic jacket for the money.
