The Nomad Portable Power Washer keeps your gear clean and shiny
Keeping your gear clean and working properly can often be a chore. Scrubbing, brushing and wiping down bikes, camping gear, your car or kayak takes time and energy. Using your garden hose to wash it down first is effective, but not convenient if you are traveling to a race or taking bikes along on a camping trip. For those looking for an easy way to clean your gear at home or when traveling, the Nomad Portable Power Cleaner is a great solution.
Small and completely self-contained, this little unit takes up little space in your garage or car. The Nomad can be used with either the 18 volt rechargeable battery, or the 12 volt auto cord. Both are kept handy in a side compartment where they plug into the Nomad. A soft sided pocket holds the nozzle, hose and any brushes or rags you may want to bring. The top compartment separates from the bottom creating a three and a half gallon jug that you fill through a filter. Just fill it up, set it back on the unit, latch it down and you are set. I found the Nomad incredibly easy to use and very well designed.
The Nomad is not an industrial power washer, so don’t expect it to clean your windows or sidewalk, but it’s perfect for light use. The nozzle is adjustable for a fan spray or concentrated stream. It also has a locking mechanism so you don’t have to hold the trigger down for long periods. Using the concentrated stream the Nomad puts out 90 P.S.I. of pressure. This was plenty to blast the grime off of my mountain bike or pots and pans while camping. Turn the nozzle to the fan spray and your bike frame, kayak or even your dog are clean in no time. In a pinch it could even double as a shower for yourself.

Nomad’s website does not give an exact battery life, only saying that it can go through three full tanks before giving out. I probably use only half the tank per wash, so I just recharge the battery after every third or fourth use. I’ve yet to have it go out on me. From fully used to fully charged takes one hour, a bit long, but it certainly doesn’t need to be recharged after every use. The hose is twenty feet long giving you plenty of room to maneuver around the bike. After a particularly muddy outing on my mountain bike I simply pulled the Nomad out, which was already loaded with water and had a charged battery, flicked on the switch and in minutes my ride was nice and clean. A few minutes degreasing the moving parts and I was ready for the next day. Regular maintenance like this keeps your bike rolling and out of the shop!
