As someone who is passionate about health and functional fitness, I’ve had the pleasure of using a wide range of fitness equipment. From barbells to resistance bands to cardio equipment, I’ve tried them all. When stepping into the world of functional fitness, weightlifting is one element that can’t be overlooked. And when it comes to weightlifting, the quality and durability of the equipment are paramount. One such essential piece that holds the power to transform your home gym experience is the DMoose Bumper Plates. As an ardent weightlifting enthusiast, I’ve seen how these bumper plates can significantly enhance strength training. They’re not just another accessory but one of the foundations to any good home gym. To give you a well-rounded view, I will be examining their smallest (10 lb.) and heaviest (45 lb.) plates in detail.

Unboxing the DMoose Bumper Plates

Upon receiving the DMoose bumper plates, the packaging looks like what you would expect from heavy weight plates being transported across the country. Even so, both sets of plates arrived undamaged. Upon opening the box, I found the plates wrapped in plastic with an oily sheen on the plates, which made them quite slippery, but was easily wiped off with a paper towel.

First Impressions

At first glance, the DMoose Bumper Plates exude a sense of toughness and durability. The black color gives them a sleek, professional look, with white numbers denoting the weight of each plate. Although some may prefer color-coded plates for easier identification, the monochromatic design fits right into my workout space.

Features and Benefits

  • Durability: One of the standout features of the DMoose Bumper Plates is their robust construction. Made of dense, high-quality rubber, these plates are designed to withstand repeated drops with minimal bounce, ensuring longevity.
  • Noise Reduction: Unlike traditional iron plates, these rubber bumper plates provide a much quieter workout experience. The rubber material dampens the noise when the plates hit the ground or each other, which is a huge benefit for those who workout early in the morning or late at night.
  • Universal Fit: The plates come with a 2-inch hole, making them compatible with all standard Olympic barbells. This feature is incredibly convenient as it allows me to use the plates with different bars and racks in my home gym.
  • Variety of Weights: From 10 lbs., 15 lbs., 25 lbs., 35lbs., and 45 lbs., the DMoose Bumper Plates offer a wide range of weights to suit different needs and workout intensities.

10 lb. DMoose Bumper Plates: The Smallest Yet Mighty

Aesthetic and Construction: The 10 lb. plates are slim and compact, measuring just 1″ in width. Despite their small size, they feel firm and solid in hand, reflecting their sturdy construction.

Performance: These plates are perfect for beginners or for exercises requiring lighter weights. I’ve found them particularly useful for warm-ups and workouts focused on speed and technique rather than heavy lifting.

45 lb. DMoose Bumper Plates: The Heavyweights

Aesthetic and Construction: The 45 lb. plates are thicker, measuring at 2.875″. They maintain the same sleek black design as the lighter plates, but their heft and size clearly mark them as the heavyweights of the group.

Performance: I’ve used these plates extensively for heavy lifting exercises, such as squats, deadlifts, and bench press. Despite the intense usage, they have held up admirably and continue to perform well.

Training Experience with DMoose Bumper Plates

Whether I’m doing a high-intensity CrossFit workout or a slow, heavy lifting session, the DMoose Bumper Plates have proven to be a reliable companion. The low bounce factor significantly lowers the risk of accidental damage to my floor or equipment, and the quieter workout environment is a definite plus. Moreover, the standard 450mm diameter and weight accuracy within 1% of the target are features that I, as a weight lifter, greatly appreciate.

What Would Make Them Perfect?

While these plates are impressive, there are a couple of things that could make them better. Firstly, the plates lack a prominent lip, making the 45 lb. plate very hard to carry with a pinch grip.

Secondly, I wish the edges had a bit more of a contour, as the 45 lb. plate is difficult to lift off the floor when lying flat.

Lastly, while the all-black design is sleek, offering different colors for different weights could make identification quicker and easier. Of course, none of these are a deal breaker for me, especially at the price point that DMoose is selling these for.

Fits perfectly on the bar with other brands.

Wrapping Up

The DMoose Bumper Plates have proven to be a worthy addition to my garage gym. They deliver on their promise of durability, noise reduction, and universal fit, and offer a wide range of weights to cater to various fitness levels and workout intensities. The overall performance and quality of these plates make them a worthwhile investment for any fitness enthusiast. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned weight lifter, the DMoose Bumper Plates are sure to be a great addition to any garage gym or home gym setup.
