Ruffwear not only outfits your dog for active adventures, they also provide products to make traveling with your active dog a cinch. Over the past several weeks, we have been testing out the Ruffwear Kibble Kaddie on multiple car camping trips out in Colorado and are loving it!
Ruffwear Kibble Kaddie Carrying Capacity
We have two Airedales, Stella (a recent addition) and Aspen, on our AGR crew. Prior to receiving the Ruffwear Kibble Kaddie, we have traveled with the Ruffwear Quencher Cinch Bowl packed to the gills and placed extra food in plastic bags, which are messy and easy for the dogs to get into. The Ruffwear Kibble Kaddie has been a welcomed addition, as it can carry 10L or 42 cups of food. If each one of our dogs eats 2-3 cups per day, the Kibble Kaddie offers up enough storage for 7 days for two dogs.
Carrying 42 cups of food sounds awkward and you would assume it would take up a lot of space. The Kibble Kaddie is 15.8 inches tall x 9.5 inches wide and features a roll-down top closure, similar to stuff sacks, and has a generous buckle to close off the bag and double as a handle. The roll-down design allows you to adjust the volume of the bag as the food supply changes.
Kibble Kaddie Features
The Ruffwear Kibble Kaddie features a magnetic closure food pour spout on the side. Initially, I worried that with the bag filled that the pour spout would open due to pressure. However, this was not the case. The magnet held tight and our dogs have not attempted to open the pour spot, yet I wouldn’t be surprised if some dogs would do this. The pour spout allows you to empty out food without opening the entire bag or using a scoop, which is a major plus for me. Anytime that my hands don’t have to smell like dog food is a bonus. There is a handle on the opposite side to allow for more control while pouring. I found myself using two hands to pour; holding the bag with one and supporting the bottom of the bag to ensure flow of food as the supply got down to the bottom.
On the outside of the Kibble Kaddie, there is a mesh pocket to carry any extras that you may have. Two collapsible food bowls fit nicely in this pocket, as does a flexible frisbee, tennis ball, and bone.
If you find yourself traveling without your dog children, the Ruffwear Kibble Kaddie can also come in handy. The bag features a label that allows you to fill in the dogs details: trail name, human’s name, feeding instructions, and a phone number if you, the owner, needs to be contacted.
Kibble Kaddie Fabric
The Ruffwear Kibble Kaddie is composed of tough-rugged-grease resistant fabric that is designed to shrug off dirt, grime, and water. After being tossed around the campsite the bag looks like new. The pour spout does allow water or port of entry into the bag, yet I don’t see this as an issue as we don’t often go boating with our dogs or submerge their food bags. I believe that if the bag was left out in a storm, once again not sure why you would leave food out with critters, the food would stay dry as the roll-down top secures like a dry bag.
