Mizuno Alchemy 9 Running Shoe Review

The Mizuno Alchemy 9 is the most recent update from Mizuno to their popular pronation control shoe, the Alchemy. The Alchemy 9 sports Mizuno’s Dynamotion fit upper which envelops the foot and reduces distortion of the upper during the gait cycle. Our testers found the upper to be very comfortable and the AIRmesh upper is super breathable. The Mizuno Wave midsole insert (the wave-shaped piece you can see sandwiched in the midsole) gives Mizuno shoes a smooth transition from heel to forefoot, and the midsole compounds in the Alchemy give this shoe a suitable amount of cushioning for a control shoe. In summary, we think the Alchemy is a good shoe for heavier runners who pronate significantly and need a durable shoe, but don’t want to sacrifice upper comfort. Great shoe, but seems to have less cushioning than the 8. I find myself going back to my 8’s for longer runs.
