As more and more of us outdoors people become tech savvy and can’t live without our electronic, some of the companies like GOAL ZERO are listening and making some excellent products to meet our needs and wants. I’ve tested a number of their products in the past including solar panels and different types of rechargeable batteries. When I first got my hands on the Rock Out Portable Speaker, I was excited to see what it could do.
The Rock Out Portable Speaker is not a radio or cd player, but it works with MP3 players, ipods, ipads, laptops, and more. The Rock Out speaker charges through USB and by Goal Zero solar panels, through your laptop, a USB wall plugin, and other accessories that charge through USB.

The quality of sound is pretty good for its size and price. Now I wouldn’t say it is going to perform like a BOSE speaker system, but I haven’t come into a situation where the sound was not loud and clear enough. One of the neat features not mentioned in the details for this product is that you can zip in your phone, ipod, or small mp3 player and keep it all as one unit.
While the Rock Out Portable Speaker has a bungee cord, I haven’t really run into too many situations where I needed it. The outer cover is helps keep water out and I have had the Rock Out in a drizzle with no issues. I would imagine if you submerge the speaker or leave it out in a down poor for a long time, the speaker wouldn’t work all that great.
All in all, I found the Goal Zero Rock Out Portable Speaker to be a great portable speaker for the outdoor person. For more info on the Rock Out Portable Speaker and other Goal Zero products, visit www.goalzero.com or www.amazon.com/goalzero.
