Saucony Peregrine ISO Review

The Saucony Peregrine ISO has been one of my all-time favorites for trail running shoes. The Peregrine ISO is everything you want in a trail running shoe. It’s durable, has a super soft ride, is lightweight and provides excellent traction on all sorts of trail surfaces.

Cushioned and Secure Upper

Saucony Peregrine ISO Midsole

The upper on the Saucony Peregrine ISO is has a low profile giving you the feel of a minimalist trail running shoe while giving you just the right amount of cushion and stability. For having a smaller upper compared to other trail running shoes, the Peregrine ISO is incredibly plush. When you slide your foot into this shoe for the first time, it’s like your getting into a brand new luxury vehicle. There is a good amount of cushion that wraps around the ankle that helps keep your foot from sliding around too much when you have a lot of lateral movement running technical trails. This extra padding around the heel also keeps it from going up and down too much when running uphill.

Saucony Peregrine ISO Review

The tongue of the Peregrine ISO is sewn in on each side of the shoe, which helps provide a more secure fit and keeps it from sliding to one side of the shoe. The toe box of this trail shoe has a standard fit, it’s not too narrow, yet it doesn’t go super wide like an Altra trail running shoe.

Mountain Goat Like Traction & Super Soft Ride

Saucony Peregrine ISO Outsole

The traction on the Saucony Peregrine ISO trail running shoe is one of the most unique outsoles in the trail running shoe category. The entire surface of the outsole is covered in lugs vs having intermittent lugs throughout the outsole. This design provides the most of rubber to trail contact of any outsole on a trail running shoe while giving the lugs enough separation to work independently to flex and grip on to uneven trail surfaces. The outsole on the Peregrine ISO is my favorite feature of this trail running shoe.

Saucony Peregrine ISO Midsole

The midsole of the Saucony Peregrine ISO is one of the softest midsoles on the market without being too sponge-like. This midsole gives you the midsole responsiveness that you want in a running shoe allowing for the shoe to take the impact of the ground while helping you spring into your next step. In a soft midsole material, you expect the material to break down a little faster than other EVA midsoles, but in testing previous Saucony Peregrine ISO trail running shoes, I can attest to the midsole providing plenty of miles with a consistent soft and secure ride.

Shoe Fit

The fit of the Saucony Peregrine is pretty spot on. I wear a size 12.5 and in testing this shoe, I found it to fit my foot just right in length. As mentioned above it has an average sized toe box, not too narrow and not too wide.

Final Thoughts

The Saucony Peregrine ISO trail running shoe is a fan favorite among both male and female testers. It doesn’t just check the boxes, it goes above and beyond in nearly every feature category for trail running shoes. For more information, visit saucony.com or amazon.com/saucony.
