Asics FujiTrail Short Sleeve Top Review

The FujiTrail Short Sleeve by Asics is a great little top for on and off road running adventures. The FujiTrail Short Sleeve is extremely light weight and very breathable. The top has mesh paneling on each side that runs the entire length of the garment, spanning from under the arms to the hip. This strip of mesh is about 3.5” wide and helps dissipate heat without making the top to see-through. There is also a triangular shaped mesh panel between the shoulders that is perfectly placed for where a typical racerback sports bra would be under the top, and where a running vest or pack may sit on top of the shirt.

The top is 100% polyester, yet is composed of at least 50% of recycled yarns and carries Asics ecoline® insignia. The fabric also carries a UPF rating of somewhere between 15-50+UPF: I am not quite sure how the garment has such a wide range, but I assume the lower rating is due to the incorporation of the mesh panels which would have a lower rating as they are more see-through than the remainder of the garment.

Asics FujiTrail Short Sleeve Top Review

The FujiTrail top features ideally placed flat-locked seams in the shoulders and along the mesh inserts. Having flat-locked seams is a nice bonus when when wearing a running vest/pack to help eliminate chaffing. The seams under the arm and around the sleeve are not flat locked, yet they have not caused any problems.

The FujiTrail Short Sleeve is available in two colors, white and steel. I tested the top in white, which was kept white for about 2-3 runs and has since taken on quite a few stains. I would prefer to see this top offered in lighter colors, to help keep you cool like the white, but may not appear dingy after regular use. The top is available in size XS to XL, runs true to size with a feminine cut. Overall, a great shirt for hot and sunny runs on and off the trails! Shannon

Shannon, our fabulous female tester, takes gear testing to a new level for women. When not at work or school, she is most likely training for a marathon, climbing one of Colorado’s tallest peaks, riding her road bike, or skiing down a mountain slope. Like many women, Shannon gets cold easily, therefore, we try to test the best all weather gear to help her stay warm and dry during all day outdoor pursuits. In the warmer months, Shannon enjoys exploring the Colorado backcountry with her friends and dogs and attempts to escape for as many trail runs as her schedule allows. Shannon is a great women’s tester because she gives readers true insight into how a product may perform for an active woman.
