Native Eyewear makes sunglasses for serious outdoor athletes and touts fun technologies such as Anti-Ocular Intrusion System® and Rhyno-Tuff® Air Frames. The Lodo sunglasses are a delightful mix of fashion, function, and technology. The Lodo’s have the aforementioned Anti-Ocular Intrusion System® which is a design feature that prevents the lens from moving back towards your precious eyes on impact. The Rhyno-Tuff® Air Frames provide a lightweight-yet durable frame that can sustain high impact collisions, such as a bike crash or a drop from your climbing route. Fortunately, we have not suffered any colossal collisions during our testing (and our bodies thank us). However, we have been rough of these glasses to put them to the test: dropped them while hiking, let the dog walk on them, and put them at the bottom of our work bag. So far so good, the Lodo’s are still intact and providing some much needed protection from the rays.
The Lodo’s, like all Native shades, have a super easy interchangeable lens system and polarized lenses. They don’t have a “how to” with photos on their website quite yet, but we will let them know so they can update it asap. We tested the Bronze Polarized w/Reflex lenses that have a VLT (Visual Light Transmittance) rating of 12%; they are geared for moderate to bright light. The Reflex lenses reduced glare to next to nothing. Our only problem with these shades was they were a tad large for our face frame (we typically wear smalls), but these are geared towards medium profiles so this really isn’t really a flaw. The glasses were comfy on our noses and behind the ears (a common hot spot) thanks to a grippy/cushioning material. The Lodo’s start at $89 w/ regular Polarized lenses and go up to $109 with the added benefits of the Reflex technology. Lenses can be sold separately to adjust to changing light conditions, the lower the % the less light that comes in: Copper Reflex w/ 18% VLT, Blue or Silver Reflex w/10% VLT, and a few other options are available, as well as silver, black, tortoise, and white frames. We loved these glasses for our outdoor pursuits and around town use. We also liked the name in honor of the Lower-downtown or LoDo area of Denver!
