Patagonia Pliant Knicker 15" Review

Patagonia has entered the yoga clothing market this spring. This is awesome news according to the gals at Active Gear Review. Fortunately, our friends at Patagonia have had us testing a few pieces from the new line up.

For starters, I have been putting the Patagonia Pliant Knicker 15″ to the test for the past 2 months. My initial impression is that these knickers are not only excellent for yoga, but cross over well to walking and running. The Pliant Knicker 15″, as its’ name suggests, features an inseam of 15″. This length covers the kneecaps, but features a slightly flared leg and is not constrictive at the knees. The shorter length is excellent for hot yoga, as I typically find myself pulling or folding my pants up to create capris or knickers due to the heat. These knickers are made from 84% nylon and 16% Spandex. This combination creates a soft, supportive, and stretchy fabric that helps to wick moisture away and move with you no matter the pose you find yourself in. The technical fabric also holds its shape, has yet to pill with regular washing, and conceals minor imperfections (in the wearer) due to the thicker fabric weave. A feature that I love!

Patagonia Pliant Knicker 15" Review

The Patagonia Pliant Knicker fit snugly and run true to size. They feature a wide-flat waistband that helps keep the pants in place while running and walking. There is a small pocket in the rear left of the waistband to stash a car or house key. While practicing my yoga, I found that the pants sit too low on my hips and I often felt as if my rear was peeking out the back during downward dog. I really like the low rise when I am not doing yoga, but feel that a little more fabric or wider waistband would take care of this problem. The Pliant Knickers also feature a gusseted seam in the crotch, a must have when looking at yoga pants.

The Pliant Knicker 15” are available in XS to XL. They come in 4 different color combos: solid Black, Black with Paintbrush Red and light pink waistband, and Forge Grey with two toned teal/turquoise waistband. My favorite are the Blue Butterfly bottoms; the blue hue is a bluish purple hue, and they feature a contrasting light blue and lime green waist band. For more information on the Pliant Knickers and other Patagonia products, visit www.patagonia.com.

Shannon

Shannon, our fabulous female tester, takes gear testing to a new level for women. When not at work or school, she is most likely training for a marathon, climbing one of Colorado’s tallest peaks, riding her road bike, or skiing down a mountain slope. Like many women, Shannon gets cold easily, therefore, we try to test the best all weather gear to help her stay warm and dry during all day outdoor pursuits. In the warmer months, Shannon enjoys exploring the Colorado backcountry with her friends and dogs and attempts to escape for as many trail runs as her schedule allows. Shannon is a great women’s tester because she gives readers true insight into how a product may perform for an active woman.
