Ruffwear The Beacon Review

If you and your favorite four-legged friend are active after dark you might want to pay special attention to this review. Ruffwear is also concerned about your pets well-being and their is no better way to prove your safety concerns by having your pet sport a high-intensity Beacon light.

Ruffwear The Beacon Visibility

Ruffwear’s the Beacon is a compact, lightweight, LED light that will make your pet visible in a variety of low-light conditions. Whether you and your best friend are hitting the trails, taking a walk, camping under the stars, or running through the streets at night, your safety is in check with the Beacon lighting your path.

Ruffwear The Beacon Review

Bentley our fabulous four-legged tester has been sporting the Ruffwear Beacon for a few weeks now in a variety of nightly activities. Being a jet black dog, Bentley tends to literally disappear in the dark. I put the Beacon on Bentley every time we are going outside, even if it is to just let him do his business.  he Beacon is very small and extremely lightweight. Ruffwear specifically designed the diamond shaped Beacon so that the high-intensity LED light creates a halo of red around your pet. There are 4 light settings 1) Strobe 2) Pulsating 3) Constant 4) OFF.  I find the 3 different settings to be very useful in different situations and activities. All 3 light settings have their use and it is great to have the options of different settings in such a compact piece of safety equipment. The LED light is so bright that it can be seen 1/2 Mile away!

There is one button for all the settings on the Beacon. The button is hard to push, however, it is nice that the button will not accidentally get bumped and turn off. I have to work at turning it on and off. The Beacon attaches very easily to Bentley’s collar by clipping on.  he Beacon does not snap on or anything but I have not had a problem with it falling off, even when Bentley is sprinting through brush. The Beacon also comes with a metal split ring for another great attachment option. If your dog loves the water, don’t fear, because the Beacon is watertight to keep the water out while your dog is splashing around. Bentley is not a water fan, so he has not fully tested the watertight capabilities of the Beacon, however, he does drool more than any dog I know and the Beacon is still shining bright!

My favorite feature about the Beacon is that Ruffwear made it so versatile. The Beacon can be used in a variety of different activities and on a variety of equipment. Most of Ruffwears products have a designated place to attach the Beacon. If you are a Ruffwear fan like Bentley is, the Beacon conveniently attaches to most of the coats, collars, leashes, packs and harnesses with ease. The Beacon is so versatile that you can also reap the benefits of it. I have clipped it onto my jacket while running at night and also on the back of my bike. Your dog will feel safe if you leave him at home knowing your out with his Beacon glowing bright!

The Beacon comes in one color Red Currant. Batteries are included as well as step-by-step instructions for easy battery replacement. For more info on The Beacon and other Ruffwear products, visit www.rei.com or www.amazon.com/ruffwear.
