Zoot Ultra Run Ice Sleeveless Tee Review

Zoot’s reputation for offering great triathlon inspired gear is bolstered by their latest offering, the Zoot Ultra Run Ice Sleeveless Tee. It’s a tech tee that’s running inspired in conception, but also has elements that make it a great option for biking and other gym workouts as well. The main selling point is the breathability of the Fabric – Zoot uses a technology they call “Icefil”, which “combines Xylitol and thermal radiation technology” in order to keep you cooler. I think that’s just a fancy way of saying it’s got great moisture wicking capabilities.

I tested the Zoot Ultra Run Ice Sleeveless Tee over a couple of weeks, wearing the shirt for multiple workouts. I wouldn’t recommend this for everyone; due to the heavy duty moisture wicking capabilities of the tee, it will carry a bit of smell the second time around. This is to be expected, however, and doesn’t affect my opinion of the product. This tee is best recommended for those who intend to wear it once before washing it. I wore the shirt during runs of up to eight miles, a pedal for an hour twenty, and during a few brick workouts.

I especially enjoyed the cut of the Zoot Ultra Run Ice Sleeveless Tee – the shirt is cut to fit loose through the shoulders, and flow easily around the lower back/waist. This is great for when you get out of the water and have only a few seconds to pull a shirt on before hopping on the bike during a tri transition. The lower back length is also nice for cycling, as it has enough cover to stay down when riding.

It’s cut to fit loose, but stayed in place for all workouts. I didn’t have any problems with it riding up – but it did showcase my Farmer’s tan during BoulderBolder this year…

My favorite part of the Zoot Ultra Run Ice Sleeveless Tee, though, is the texture. As I mentioned before, I wore the tee for multiple workouts before washing, but also was able to wash the tee four times before the posting of this review. The fabric is silky smooth to the touch – the issue with this type of fabric is that it (normally) will break down quickly. Zoot has found a way to counter this effect, as the tee was just as silky after the fourth washing as it was right out of the box.

I like the design aesthetic on the back – nice touch Zoot!

As this is a new offering from Zoot, it only comes in one color. It runs true to size, but remember, the cut is more spacious than other tech tees in the same sizing on purpose, so don’t expect a figure hugging shirt. It’s made to be taken on and off quickly, and keep you cool and comfortable during even the longest workouts. Check it out at www.amazon.com/zootsports.
