Winter running calls for clothing to keep you warm and visible, due to dropping temperatures and decreased daylight. The Asics Lite-Show Tight meets both of these criteria and has been super comfortable during recent test runs, when temperatures have dropped as low as 15F.
Reflectivity
As the name suggests, the Lite-Show Tight offers 360 degree reflectivity, which translates to greater visibility in the morning and evening hours. The contrasted silver flatlock seams on the thighs, hips, knees, calves, and ankles are all reflective. There is also a reflective Asics logo on the left hip and behind the right knee as well.
Fit
The Lite-Show Tights are available for both men and women; small to extra large for men and extra small to extra large for women. I tested the women’s tight and found that they ran true to size. The 28″ inseam was more than adequate. There is elastic grip along the bottom of the tights, which helps to keep them in place. My only gripe is that there is no zipper leading to the tapered ankle openings, which makes getting the pants on and off a little more difficult. The lack of zipper, however, saves weight and keeps the tights more affordable.
The tights feature an extra wide waistband that does an excellent job of keeping the tights in place while running. The waistband does not feature a drawstring, however I didn’t feel that I needed one as the waist band is plenty snug. There is a small stash pocket integrated into the waistband along the right hip, offering a place to stash a house or car key, with the key snugly stored when placed horizontal.
Fabric and Performance
The Lite-Show tights are made of a 86% nylon and 14% spandex. The outer layer of the tights feature a DWR finish to add a touch of water repellency, while the lining feature a soft, almost fleece like lining. In the high heat trapping areas, along the knees and hips, the fabric is a bit thinner, to allow for greater breathability. These areas also include the bright color accents that help the Lite-Show Tights stand out against the basic black running tight. In the stock photo, these accents appear dull or muted. In real life, they are neon orange, yellow, pink, and turquoise.
I’ve been testing the Lite-Show Tight for about a month now, or approximately 15 different days on the road/trail. I’ve found that they keep me plenty warm in temperatures down to 15F.
In order to care for your Lite-Show Tights, simply wash in cold and allow to line dry. Air drying in the house takes about 2 hours and saves the tights from piling and shrinking.
