At first glance, the Brooks Infiniti Anorak Jacket looks like a cute pullover. Don’t let the ruffles fool you, the Infiniti Anorak Jacket packs a ton of protection from the wind, water, and cold, in a fashion forward package.
Features of the Brooks Infiniti Anorak
First off, the Brooks Infiniti Anorak Jacket is prepared for the elements and is extremely lightweight. The Infiniti Anorak Jacket is windproof, waterproof, and most importantly breathable. I’ve been wearing this jacket with a short or long sleeve underneath and have been comfortable in temperatures ranging from 30-60F. The jacket includes 23% spandex as well, and is therefore stretchy and can move with you while providing protection from the elements. I wore this jacket during the week long deluge we experienced in Colorado last month and the jacket kept me dry and comfortable, without weighing me down.
The Infiniti Anorak Jacket is fitted and features ruching along the side panels and shoulders, which add style and allows for a little more room for under layers. The jacket has a a longer center back length than the front, yet the front hits about 4 inches below the hips, which offers ample coverage. The jacket, because it features a fitted style, feels about a 1/2 size smaller than other Brooks running jackets that I own. The Infiniti Anorak is available in XS to XL.
In terms of style, I was a little skeptical of all the ruffles in the front and the high collar that features a two snap closure. I thought that the collar would get bothersome if I started to heat up on a run. Fortunately, Brooks has thought of this already and incorporated a two way zipper that allows you to unzip the jacket from the top down so that you can keep the collar buttoned and still cool off by opening the jacket 3/4’s of its’ length. On colder days, the ruffles add a an extra layer of protection from the elements at the the core, where you need it most, while the collars’ reinforced fabric helps keep the cold air out. And if that’s not enough, their is a small, lined, zipper compartment integrated into the ruffled front and is perfect for stashing a key.
The Brooks Infiniti Anorak also features thumbholes that are made from a soft knit fabric that is actually comfortable. Often times thumbholes are too small or constricting and placed in an awkward position. That is not the case with this jacket, and it is easy to take advantage of the thumbholes and pull the extra fabric at the cuff over your fingertips at the beginning of a cool morning run. On colder days, I looped the thumbholes over my gloves which eliminated any potential drafts.
The lightweight Brooks Infiniti Anorak Jacket dries quickly if it gets wet and is easy to care for. I have worn it for about 30 runs and washed it a few times to assess the quality of its’ construction. So far, the Brooks Infiniti Jacket looks and performs like new. The jacket is available in basic black and bright pink. The web images do not do the pink color justice; it is much more vibrant in person and pairs well with the Infiniti Capri III, also by Brooks.
