Nothing beats sliding your foot in to the unmatched comfort of a double-faced sheepskin boot. mou nailed comfort when they designed the Eskimo Bounce Sneaker. Although it is far from what we would consider a sneaker here in the US, you will totally melt when you feel the warmth and comfort of this sporty luxury boot.

mou was started in 2004. The founder, a New Zealand native, strived to create sustainable and eco-friendly products while using natural materials in the luxury boots. They are designed with fashion in mind, of course, but offer incredible warmth and comfort. The Eskimo line of mou’s boots are the most popular of their design lines.

Luxurious Softness of the mou Eskimo Bounce Sneaker

When my new Eskimo Bounce Sneakers arrived, I seriously had to go back online and see if I had ordered slippers. Not because they didn’t look great, they were just so comfy and warm that I was pretty sure they were going to be my new winter house shoes. They are made with double-faced sheepskin upper sewn with mou’s signature wool crocheted stitching. They look so pretty!

In the interest of writing a review on these shoes, I really looked hard for a flaw in the stitching or construction. At the hefty $300 price point, I wanted to make sure they were perfect. They were. Not a flaw to be found in the leather, stitching or soles.

Surprisingly Comfortable Soles

The mou Eskimo Bounce Sneaker is a surprisingly comfortable walking boot. The soles are made of a lightweight EVA rubber sole and it has a padded leather with sheepskin insole (not removeable) that provides magnificent cushion. It has very little tread so these are not designed to be worn on slick surfaces. There are strategically placed slits in the bottom that allow for a comfortable flex of the sole. They aren’t hard, flat and stiff like some other boots I’ve worn in the past. mou really took the care to make sure these boots are comfortable to wear.

If I had one negative thing to say, it is that the soles are a little thick for my liking at 1 1/2 inches. Now that is strictly a personal preference and they are great for someone who likes that thick sole and added height of the boot. The thick soles, however, really insulated my feet from the cold Michigan ground and substantially added to the warmth of these boots.

Much Care Needed to Keep the Boots Nice

Because mou uses double faced sheepskin and wool stitching, the care of these boots in not easy. On mou’s website, they caution you to keep them out of direct light, heat or rain. If you get them wet, they must be dried immediately with a soft cloth. mou suggests storing them with tissues in the boots to maintain shape and absorb any moisture and recommends that the boots be stored in a flannel case.

I’ve only had the boots for a month but so far they seem pretty durable. They do absorb water/melted snow immediately so you will need to wipe them off quickly. They are definitely not an outdoorsy pair of winter boots so keep that in mind when deciding on which mou boots are the right choice for you.
