I recently integrated the Reolink Home Hub into my security setup to enhance the management of my Reolink Argus 4 Pro camera. After using it for over a month, I’ve had the chance to explore its features, ease of use, and limitations.

Design and Features

The Reolink Home Hub has a compact and minimalist design. I placed it on a shelf next to my router. Measuring approximately 3.7×3.7×6.4 inches, it works well with my home environment. Its design blends well with other modern devices. It relies on a wired power connection and Ethernet cable for a stable network connection, so you may need to manage some extra cables and find a location that works for you.

This hub acts as a centralized command center for your Reolink security cameras, consolidating video footage and providing local storage for up to 8 cameras. It comes with a preinstalled 64GB microSD card and includes two additional microSD slots, each supporting up to 512GB. The encrypted storage ensures that even if the device is stolen, unauthorized users cannot access the recorded footage.

Setup and Performance

After connecting it to power and my router, I added my Reolink Argus 4 Pro camera by scanning its QR code in the Reolink app. The app guided me through the configuration process, including adjusting storage settings and motion detection preferences.

The Reolink app is well-designed, making it easy to manage all connected cameras from a single interface. It offers three Scene Modes: Home, Away, and Disarmed. These modes allow users to quickly switch between different security settings. The Home mode records footage but disables notifications. The Away mode activates full monitoring with alerts. The Disarmed mode turns off alarms and recording.

One particularly useful feature is the Weekly Insights tab, which summarizes security activity, including motion detection events and camera alerts. This helped me stay informed on what was going on around my house without having to sift through individual recordings.

Security and Privacy

Privacy is a major concern with security cameras, and Reolink addresses this by incorporating AES-128 encryption into the Home Hub. This ensures that recorded footage remains secure, even if the device or storage cards are stolen. Additionally, WPA3 security protects the hub’s wireless network from unauthorized access.

The hub also offers multi-user permission settings, allowing up to 10 sub-accounts in addition to the admin account. This makes it convenient for families or small businesses that need shared access. I was able to easily share the camera with my wife so she could receive security notifications and check camera feeds as needed.
