When winter arrives, running outside can feel like more of a chore than a joy. Braving the elements requires the right gear—items that keep you warm, dry, and comfortable without restricting movement or overheating. That’s why I was excited to test GOREWEAR Cold Weather Running Gear, including the CONCURVE GORE-TEX Jacket, Everyday Thermo 1/4-Zip, WINDSTOPPER Thermo Gloves, and Everyday Track Pants. These items aren’t just stylish, they’re designed to perform under harsh conditions. After putting them through their paces, here’s my review.

First Impressions

The CONCURVE GORE-TEX Jacket offers everything you need in a cold-weather running jacket. At just 7.1 ounces, it’s incredibly lightweight and doesn’t add bulk. The streamlined fit makes it easy to layer, and the innovative body-mapped design ensures unrestricted movement. I tested it during multiple runs and a bike ride, and it impressed me in every scenario.

The jacket comes with thoughtful features like an adjustable hood, taped seams, and reflective details for low-light visibility. The two zippered exterior pockets are protected with GORE-TEX overlays to keep water out, while two inner pockets provide additional storage.
Performance
I wore the jacket on a rainy day to test its waterproofing, and it kept me completely dry. The breathable GORE-TEX membrane also prevented overheating, even when I pushed my pace. On a cold bike ride, the windproof construction kept me warm without trapping sweat.

The only downside I noticed was the tightness of the wrist cuffs. While they’re effective at sealing out cold air, I struggled to pull the sleeves back far enough to check my watch mid-run. Still, the jacket’s overall performance makes it an excellent investment for winter athletes.

Comfort and Fit
This mid-layer is a fantastic addition to my cold-weather wardrobe. Made from brushed thermal fleece, it offers excellent insulation without feeling bulky. The fit is snug yet flexible, and the stretch fabric moves with you during activity.
Tested in Action
One of my most memorable runs with the Everyday Thermo 1/4-Zip was along Lake Michigan on a brisk morning in the low 30s. Even as I tackled stair repeats and picked up my pace, the partial zip allowed me to regulate my body temperature effectively.
- Fleece Lining and Zipper
- Thumb Hole
- Handwarmer Pockets
The handwarmer pockets were also a standout feature. Before starting my run and during cooldowns, they provided an added layer of comfort. This top layers perfectly under the CONCURVE GORE-TEX jacket for complete protection.
GOREWEAR Cold Weather Running Gear: WINDSTOPPER Thermo Gloves

- Price: $90
- Available Colors: Black/Fireball, Black/Neon Yellow, Black

Why They Stand Out
I’ve owned plenty of gloves, but these are the best for cold-weather running. Made with WINDSTOPPER fabric, they completely block wind while remaining breathable. The thermo lining adds warmth without making the gloves feel bulky, and the elastic wrist ensures a secure fit.

Performance
On a 10-mile run at Hoffmaster State Park, these gloves kept my hands warm from the start—no more waiting for the blood flow to catch up. The silicone grip was particularly helpful during stair repeats, especially when my two Australian Shepherds start pulling.

The gloves also worked very well during a 20-mile bike ride in the mid-30s. Despite the wind, my hands stayed warm and comfortable. If you struggle with cold hands during winter workouts, these gloves are worth the investment.
GOREWEAR Cold Weather Running Gear: Everyday Track Pants

- Price: $120
- Available Colors: Black

Comfort and Design
These pants strike a perfect balance between performance and comfort. Designed as an alternative to traditional running tights, they offer a tapered fit that’s neither too tight nor too loose. The lightweight 4-way stretch fabric moves with you, making them ideal for sprints, long runs, or recovery days.

The pants include three zippered pockets—two on the sides and one in the back. The back pocket is particularly noteworthy. Unlike many running pants that leave your phone bouncing awkwardly or digging into your back, this pocket is cleverly designed with a split opening. To secure your phone or small items, you lift the outer layer of the pocket and slide them into the concealed compartment below. This extra step ensures your belongings stay in place, no matter how fast or far you’re running.
- Rear Pocket
- Waist Line
The waistband is adjustable for a custom fit, and the raw-cut bottom hem eliminates unnecessary seams for a clean, modern look.
Real-World Use
I tested these pants on multiple runs in temperatures around the low 30s, and they performed exceptionally well. Despite their lightweight construction, they provided just the right amount of warmth without causing me to overheat. The back pocket worked perfectly for carrying my phone securely during my runs.

Beyond performance, these pants are stylish enough to wear for errands or casual outings. They combine functionality with versatility, making them a standout piece in any runner’s wardrobe.
